I am seeking views on the apparent transition from Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) to Integrated Product Support (IPS) AND LSA vs PSA;  it intrigues me as to what the experienced ILS/IPS Practitioners and Professionals believe the impact will be.  Personally, at the working level I think IPS and PSA are a caes of same intent dressed in new clothes and see it as an opportunity to reinvigorate the overarching intent to design, develop, deliver, operate and dispose of a cost effective Support system for a Mission System / Product.  Over to you community 

There has been some robust discussion about this topic, in particular on LinkedIn. IPS is said to be the new generation of ILS or the changing of the guard, even on LinkedIn referred to as the Element in the Room. In reality very little difference between ILS and IPS, 10 ILS Elements to 12 IPS Elements, but the same objective, purpose, function. The two extra elements just place an emphasis on management requirements, that have always been there but brings a focus back to the key requirement, that is integration. Do you agree?

I agree Gary.  It seems to me that the apparent rebadging of ILS to IPS doesn't change the objectives of the FELSA and LSA processes and that the 'old' ILS standards and consequent techniques are unchanged and continue to apply. 

The transition occurring whilst the S-Series standards are becoming more prominent only seems to add to the confusion.  It will be interesting to see what James V. Jones' take on the matter is at his webinar next week.
